Check this article out. I found it just as I was about to get of the net. TV is now watched more and more on cell phones.

Hey all you readers!

It has been nearly a week since I wrote last! I have been so busy the last few days with my study of acting and dancing. I’ve been so tired and haven’t had the chance to update! I have to learn five dance routines, two of them solos, and twop acts (we’re doing Beauty and the Beast(I know, right! And who am I? Belle of course. It was the Professor’s choice, not mine!)) for the production at the end of september. It’s not going to be easy, but I’m going to do the best I can. Anyway, I have three other people supporting me (excluding Tay), so I’ll be fine! :) The schools abuzz with excitement because of the production. It’s months away, sure, but before you know it it’s right in front of your eyes. That’s why practice is important! I’m annoying Tay slightly because I keep dancing and saying my lines out loud at home. She’s on the verge of killing me, but I won’t let her :)

Sometimes I wonder how people these days would have survived back in 1900. I hear people say “I don’t know if I could live without my cell phone/iPod/computer/TV”, and I think to myself you wouldn’t survive. It’s due to the reliance on technology that people have given in. A novelist used to have to rely on people to hand write their novels, once at a time, and if there was an error, they’d have to start over again. Then print came in, making it much easier. Finally, the use of computers came up and here we are today, typing a story and sending it away, quick and simple. Music wasn’t played on computers or on iPods. It was played with instruments, live. Different every time. People didn’t go to the internet for information, the looked in *gasp* books! Remember those? I love to read, so I haven’t forgotten.

They’ve grown into the technology revolution, and they rely on it more than they should. But no one stops them.

I found this beautiful picture on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Upper_East_Side_and_Central_Park.jpg of central park, and I couldn’t resist. Check it out.

Well, I have some studying to do, plus my dance partner is coming over at 2:00pm and staying for dinner (he’s a SPUNK!) so I should be going. Who knows when I’ll post again? Thanks for reading up on the life of me.

Back. Tay wanted to know if I wanted chinese for lunch. Sounded good. She’s gone out to get it. We usually have an early lunch when we’re together.  I’m really cold at them moment. It’s only 72°F outisde, and it’s usually a bit wamer than this.

This morning on my daily jog I went past a high school and watched all the students going into the building to face another day of learning. It made me think. It seemed so long ago when I was a teenager, battling the enemies of adolescence: puberty, boyfriends, fights and most importatly, bullying. I was never bullied at school, but I knew people that did. It’s not a nice thing to experience, and it probably isn’t a nice thing to stand by and watch. I’ve seen my fair share of it. I wonder why people do it. Any form of bullying is terrible; there’s no disagreement there. But to bully someone online over MySpace, texting or MSN (emailing) is a very low thing to do. If it’s on MySpace, it’s open for anyone to see. And that person gets picked on even more when others read it. It’s just a pathetic attempt at getting to someone without saying it face to face. But that doesn’t stop it from arising and getting parents and teachers involved. I recently read an article about cyber-bullying and I was very disappointed . Today’s generation’s are facing terrible bullying, both kinds. No wonder so many of them fall into depression and self harm. They don’t speak to anyone about it, and it slowly leads to suicide. Some people need to grow up and think about what they’re doing and how it would feel. :(

I recently watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring Audrey Hepburn. It’s one of my favourite movies of all time. Holly Golightly is just a fun character who makes do with what she’s got, yet she still looks elegant. It made me want to visit Tiffany’s, so I did. It’s one of the nicest and LARGEST jewellery stores I have ever been in. I didn’t buy anything of course (I spent the last of my money on my new iPhone :) ) but I think I might in the near future.

Tay just got back. She’s pink in the face from the cold wind :D . Yum. I can’t remember the last time I had Chinese.

So I was talking to Tay the other day and she told me that her younger sister (she’s fifteen), has been staying inside more and more. She seems to be glued to her computer screen, always updating, posting and commenting people on her MySpace. Apparently she’s not keeping up with her schoolwork and is speaking to her parents very harshly. I told Tay what I thought of MySpace and she agreed with me. Another reason I love her: we agree on so many things :) . I think people are turning towards their computers more and more to let their feelings out. More people are asking each other out over MSN Messenger because it saves them less embarrassment if they ask them out face to face. I know that’s what the shy ones do *cough* Tay *cough*. She just wacked me over the head. I’ll get her later.

I have a song from Chicago stuck in my head. The Cell Block Tango when all the women are in jail. It’t the second day it’s happened. Tay likes to sing it when I tell her, causing it to be worse. She’s gonna get it soon. Maybe I should watch Chicago and maybe that will get the song from my head. Who knows.

I’m off for now. I’ll post again when I can. Me and Tay are going to watch a movie (Chicago perhaps?)

Hey guys,

I got a new phone, as I said I would. I was in the shop for about an hour and a half due to all the explanation of all the features it has. It’s an iPhone, and has pretty much anything you can think of.   It’s a phone, camera, iPod, portable internet and emailing, as well as bluetooth. I tell you what, Is till don’t know how to work it. Tay laughs at me every time I do something wrong and don’t know how to go back. She’s the one who’s up to date with the latest technology going around, not me. The younger generations seem to know way more than the older ones :)

Here’s a picture of the iPhone from http://www.apple.com/iphone/ It’s a pretty awesome phone, I just need to get the hang of it! :)

Tay and I went out for morning tea today because both of us had a day off. It’s been awhile since both of us had been home; Tay studies journalism and creative writing at City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism and she loves to write. She wants to get a job at the New York Times, and although I tell her it’s very hard, she doesn’t stop working her way towards it. Me on the other hand? Straight after I finished school I went to City College of The City University of New York to study acting. Ever since I was little I loved to act and dance, and I knew it was the path for me to follow. I’m in my third year now with one more to go, and hopefully after that I’ll find work somewhere! :)

I know what you’re thinking: “She’s complaining about newer technology, yet she goes out and buys an iPhone”. Well sure I updated, but now I won’t need a new phone for let’s see…five or six years, maybe more? It’s all good :)

Tay’s calling me. I’ll be back in a second.

NY Girl here,

So today I was walking through Barney’s, trying to find myself a dress for this party I was invited to (I got a black spaghetti strap one!), when I saw a bunch of teenagers looking at the newest phones out. They were going on about what phone they had and how new it was. I stood there, just listening to them. Why on earth were they going on about what they’d got, and how many phones they’d had? It was like they were bragging to anyone who could hear. Well, two of them ended up buying their fifth phone. Geez, I’d only had two phones, and the one I have now is still pretty new. The only thing it didn’t have was an updated camera, but the shots were still clear. Then I see teenagers who have had more than five phones in the past what, three years? Did mom and dad get you another phone for Christmas? It’s bad when you think about it. I don’t want to think about it. But I have to. What are these teenagers going to be like later in life? Surely from all the texting something will be wrong with their fingers…arthritis perhaps? They turn to texting instead of calling, and their language gradually drops every time they use slang.

My sister came over to my house today, brandishing gifts from her trip to Paris with her boyfriend. She gave me three beautiful blouses and a pair of very expensive red shoes (And perfect timing too!)! She stayed until four o’clock, and then left to go see mom and dad. She was happy with her boyfriend, and I was happy for her. She deserved to be happy after the years she fell into a depression. :D

My roomate Tay got home at 6 o’clock, and guess what she had? A new phone. I sat across from her and watched as she took it out of the packaging and put it all together. She was only 19, but we were best friends. We’d met during Spring break when I was a Senior at Nightingale-Bamford School for girls, and she transferred in from California. We clicked straightaway, and once I finished school, we moved in together. After she had it all together, she she handed it to me. I looked it over and wasn’t surprised to see the camera was updated. The music had a better sound quality, and she could reach the internet and watch TV on it. I told her that everything updates very fast, and she threw back at me: “Welcome to the 21st century!” Off she skipped to her room and I was left on the couch staring out the window. When you think about it, technology has really only risen in the last 20 years. That’s a short amount of time for the amount of updates we see everyday.

Maybe I should go out and see what the rave is about with new phones. Maybe it’ll answer my questions to why teenagers must have the best. Doubt it. ;)

Hey there guys!

NY Girl here. As you probably guessed, I’m from New York. I’ve lived here since I was five after moving from Australia, and  I have come to call it home. Although I have lived here for 16 years, people still tend to pick up on my Australian accent! :)

So I’ve been out recently, taking in all the new technology there is available. And I can’t believe how much things update! I was the first out of my family to recieve an iPod mini, and just recently I got the newer version, and it has changed dramatically. Not only is it colour screen, it also holds photos, movies, TV shows and music. I look back at my original mini and compared to the newer one, it’s nothing. I see young people all around, mainly chilling out in Central Park, listening to their iPods, the newest ones out. What do their parents do for a living? They don’t come cheap, but still, these young people have them. I didn’t get my first one until I was at least 16, and people of 10 have them! Then again, young people these days are turning to technology more and more. I would know. Here I am writing a blog about it. But that doesn’t mean anything. As young as 10 years olds have MySpace, one of the most popular social networking communities. I’m not one for MySpace; all my friends have one and say how great it is: “Did you get my comment?” “Did you read her post?” “I moved you higher on my friends list!” To me, this is just stupid. Why have an internet site where you can put your friends in order of who you like better, comment on your friends pages when you’re going to see them face to face anyway, and read stupid posts about the girl who was a back stabber? My cousin who lives in Australia called me and told me of that incident with that guy who put a party on his MySpace, and over 500 people turned up at his house, trashing it and the streets. What’s the point of it? His parents have to pay for all the damage he caused, while he doesn’t help. It’s pathetic. Yet, people still turn to MySpace, or MSN Messenger to talk to people. What happened to good ol’ coversations face to face people? Some people find it easier when they aren’t talking to someone face to face, I understand that completely, because I have done that. But to do it all the time? It’s not good, and when coming face to face with people, that person doesn’t know how to communicate properly. It’s not like they can say: “LOL” or “LMAO”, because it’s an open conversation, and not on the net. There aren’t any emoticons to back them up when there’s nothing to say, or winks for that matter. They forget how to communicate. It’s not good, and the serious updating in today’s technology isn’t helping either. Does anyone pick up the phone these days? No, let’s just send them a text and make it cost more. How is blogging different you ask? Let’s just say that you aren’t commenting on photos of your friends which you’ll see anyway. You get to express your opinion openly and get feedback and constructive critisism on it. MSN is a substitute for a phone call clearly, but MySpace is a pathetic attempt at showing yourself to your friends (which you see everyday anway), whereas blogging gets your message across to various different people around the world.

The future’s looking scary for the next generation, who will be born into technology. I was lucky to be born just before it happened. So I’ve grown with it. Those children will have it with them always.

I may be from NY, the heart of fashion, parties and gossip, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be concerned. I want my views to be heard, and not only by younger people. I want to tell their parents what I think.
